Shimla is one of the most popular hill stations of India with freezing cold climate during winters and pleasant breezy climate during summers. Shimla witnesses the grace of snow-capped Himalayas and green pastures with ample amount of forest vegetation, which indeed attracts millions of people throughout the year. With a challenging site in terms of topography, snow-fall and equally challenging context, ITC Fortune Resort is designed with utmost sensitivity and hint of relatability by depicting local & colonial style of architecture. Use of local materials for finished surfaces like Black Quartzite Composite Stone Masonry finish on walls & Black/ Green Slate Stone Tiles on sloping roof/ lintel surfaces. The essence of colonial style architecture reflects the local flavour in the construction with compact planning, sloping roofs, over hangs, atriums etc. The form was also a derivation for facilitation of melting of snow during winter months and reduction of the plinth area of the building in order to contain heat as well as minimise the impact of site development with retention of natural land form. In addition to the resort, service apartments were also planned as part of the master planning with optimisation of land cut-fill and each building block positioned accordingly to adhere to split-levels with staggered placement as per the exiting contours. . This resort is a harmonious blend of nature and modernity to offer unique luxury in a lush green and natural setting having views of the exhilarating valley of Shimla. Rooms & Suites are designed keeping in mind the need to rejuvenate our body, mind and soul by experiencing serenity amidst the soothing and beautiful setup.
